South Australian food manufacturing and production companies are being called upon to showcase their secret ingredient in the lead-up to the 2012 Food Industry Awards.
Nominations are now open for the prestigious Awards program, which was launched last night at an
exclusive event at one of Adelaide’s best kept secrets – The Monastery.
The theme of the 2012 Awards is ‘The Secret Ingredient’.
The SA Food Industry Awards recognise outstanding achievement in the State’s food industry. They
reward businesses and individuals that have demonstrated vision, leadership and excellence in their
Food SA Deputy Chair Stephan Knoll said the passion and dedication of food companies was the secret
ingredient and essence of what made the food industry successful.
With the current challenging environment, there’s no better time to put vibrant, hard-working people in the spotlight to celebrate and showcase their hard work in creating such a thriving food industry, he said.
Stephan announced at the launch that a few key changes had been made to this year’s Awards program
including; a benefit for all entrants, a nomination process and revised categories.
An exciting change to our categories is the creation of two levels for each business category Award – one for businesses over 10 full time employees, and one for businesses with 10 or less employees. We hope this will encourage the smaller businesses to apply, knowing that they will be competing with businesses of similar size, he said.
To encourage entry, a new benefit has also been created where each applicant will receive two hours of free mentoring and coaching with a service provider of their choice in the areas of finance, law, food safety, graphic design, media, product development, nutrition and refrigeration to name a few.
We’ve also revised all Awards, introducing new categories of Best Practice and Regional as well as invigorating the existing Leader, Innovation, Product, Sustainability and Workforce categories.
A nomination process has also been established for the first time, and the general public and industry are encouraged to nominate any business or individual in the categories they think are excelling and deserve recognition for their achievements.
Entries for the Awards are open for eight weeks, closing Wednesday 18 July 2012. Nominations can be
