South Australian food companies are being called upon to prepare applications for the 2013 South Australian Food Industry Awards.
Applications are now open for the prestigious awards program, launched last night (Tuesday 21 May) at an event at Government House hosted by His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR.
Minister for Food Gail Gago said the awards recognised the outstanding achievers in the State’s food industry – businesses and individuals who demonstrate vision, leadership and excellence.
With the 2013 theme of ‘Real Food’, the awards are showcasing the state’s Premium Food and Wine from our Clean Environment, Ms Gago said.
These awards are a fantastic way to highlight the diversity of top quality produce made right here in South Australia.
The 2013 awards, which are hosted and managed by Food SA with the support of the South Australian Government, sees the introduction of three new exciting categories – Primary Producer, Export and Consumer Awards.
For the first time in the 16 year history of the awards, consumers have an exciting opportunity to vote for their favourite South Australian food company and get involved with the awards, Ms Gago said.
Also, the introduction of a Primary Producer Award ensures that those who grow and breed our premium food have the opportunity to be recognised and celebrated.
To encourage entry, each applicant will receive two hours of free mentoring and coaching with a Food SA service provider of their choice.
Most of the categories are open to companies with less than or equal to 15 full time equivalent staff, as well as companies with more than 15 full time equivalent staff.
Entries close Monday 15 July 2013.
