The 2015 South Australian Food Industry Awards Program will be launched on Wednesday 13 May at one of Adelaide’s high spots, 2KW Bar, by Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Minister Leon Bignell MP.
Chosen for its lofty location that reflects this year’s theme “Reaching New Heights”, the South Australian Food Industry Awards Program recognises and celebrates the State’s leading food businesses and individuals.
Ms Catherine Barnett, Chief Executive Officer of Food South Australia, which manages and hosts the Awards Program, says it provides the opportunity for these ambitious and enthusiastic professionals to not only be recognised for their achievements within the food industry, but to also evaluate and benchmark themselves against the best.
“Food and beverage manufacturing sales exceeded $8.3 billion to our State’s economy and provided more than 21,000 jobs in 2013-14. It is currently the largest manufacturing sector in South Australia, and is continuing to grow.
“The South Australian Food Industry Awards Program also continues to grow, with the highest number of entries in 2014.
“Last year we had everything from seafood, brussel sprouts, cheese, smallgoods and nuts to lamb, lettuces, kangaroo, coffee and crackers, being honoured as finalists, which highlights the diversity and strength of our industry, Ms Barnett said.
“Each year, the Awards Program is elevated to a higher level through the calibre of entrants, the quality of the judges and the dedication of the people who work in the food industry.
This year, food businesses can enter categories including leadership, export, best practice, business development, innovation, new product, regional, sustainability and primary producer.
The South Australian Food Industry Awards Program also acknowledges entrepreneurship and skills development.
Businesses also have the opportunity to connect with consumers through the Consumer Award, which allows the public to vote for their favourite South Australian food business.
Previous recipients that have been chosen as the State’s favourite business are Robern Menz and Enzo’s at Home.
The 2015 South Australian Food Industry Awards Program recognises and celebrates individuals and businesses that are at the top of their game, and demonstrate outstanding vision, leadership and innovation.
